Annual Subscription Fee

On 28. January. We got a call from club Mahindra, claiming that we have won free holiday vouchers from club Mahindra. We were invited to collect the free vouchers from their Atria Mall Office. When we reached there, we were told to attend a club Mahindra presentation about their membership and the facilities at their resorts. We were given a presentation by sales representative (Mr. Lalit) about the membership and the benefits we will get after taking the membership. Even though they said it will be a one hour presentation, they almost took three hours explaining the various type of membership.

During the whole presentation they didn't tell us about the membership fee and the terms and conditions associated with the membership. After repeated confrontation at the end, Mr Lalit quoted Rs. 265702.00 as a one-time membership fee. He didn't tell us our annual subscription fee, which we will have to pay every year for the next 25 years to avail the holidays. As the day look tempting the agreed for the membership and paid 10% of total membership fee and agreed to pay remaining amount as the EMI.

We were also told that we will be given a welcome call confirming our membership and the financial agreement between the club Mahindra and us. Despite saying this, they never gave a welcome call to me, but gave a call to my sister who was the co-applicant. She was completely unaware of the discussion that we had with Mr Lalit at the Atria office. During that call she asked them to call me and send the hardcopy of the terms and conditions. On 18th of February we received the hardcopy about terms and conditions and for the first time we read something about annual subscription fee. Reading this, we brought this discrepancy to their notice and explained to them that we were not told by Mr Lalit about this. We lodge a complaint about this on their call centre number. We also wrote an e-mail about this discrepancy.

We were assured that they will look into the matter and solve the issue as soon as possible. However, despite repeated efforts, they neglected the issue. Finally we decided to go back to their office at Atria mall and confront Mr Lalit. At first he refused to acknowledge the mistake and adamantly kept saying that he has told us. Finally he agreed and assured us to have a meeting with a sensor sale representative Ms. Kalika. Again, club Mahindra kept postponing the meeting.

Eventually, they agreed for the meeting on April 2. When we went there we were told to meet Ms. Preety. She told us that as a part of membership confirmation, they call the member, sends an e-mail and courier the terms and condition. We told her that they never called the primary applicant and the e-mail went into the junk. We only received the hardcopy from the Courier and we brought annual subscription fee discrepancy to their notice immediately.

The other big surprise was about the EMI. Despite voicing our concern and they cut the EMI from my credit card.

When we asked them to cancel our membership and refund the amount that we have paid, they refused to acknowledge the mistake their company has made.

I wanted to lodge this complaint against club Mahindra for cheating and fraud. I'm also planning to put an FIR against club Mahindra and their sales representative who misguided us.
