MISSING BAGGAGE AT DESTINATION - HYDERABAD

MY SON TRAVELLED TO HYDERABAD BY EK 526 ON 22ND APRIL., WITH SOME EXCESS BAGGAGE, FOR WHICH HE WAS CHAGED ALSO. UPON ARRIVAL, HIS BAGGAGE CONTAINING ALL HIS CLOTHING WAS MISSING - SO ALSO OF FOUR/FIVE OTHER PASSENGERS. MEANING, TO ACCOMMODATE SOME EMERGENCY CARGO, SOME CHECKED IN BAGGAGE WAS OFF LOADED.

ANYWAYS, THE HANDLING AGENTS TOOK A COMPLAINT - WITHOUT ASKING THE PAX TO FILL THE INVENTORY FORM &/OR IDENTIFICATION OF THE BAG. NO BODY CARED TO CALL HIM &/or RESPONDED PROPERLY, WHEN CONTACTED, AT TIMES BEING KEPT ON HOLD FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES., TO ADD TO HIS MISERIES & SUFFERINGS, MAKING HIM SPEND MONEY EVEN ON PHONES & HANDLING AGENTS KEPT CHATTING AND JOKING CARING THE LEAST FOR THE AGONY OF A BOY WHO WOULD TURN 18 (EIGHTEEN) ONLY ON THE 30TH OF MAY.

ON THE 01ST OF MAY., SEEING THE PATHETIC TREATMENT BEING METED OUT TO MY SON, I FLEW TO HYDERABAD - ON BEING CONTACTED HANDLING AGENTS OF EMIRATES, THEY TOLD ME WE HAVE DONE OU JOB & SEND TRACERS TWO TIMES. SENDING TRACER TWO TIMES ONLY OVER A PERIOD OF NINE DAYS.

ON DEMANDING TO MEET EMIRATES STAFF, THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME "NO SENIOR EMIRATES REPRESENTATIVE IS AVAILABLE AT THE AIRPORT NOW, BECAUSE IT IS A HOLIDAY IN HYDERABAD DUE TO MAY DAY. HOWEVER, AFTER THREATENING, THEY MADE ME TALK TO ONE MS. ANILA OF EMIRATES {WHOSE CONTACT DETAILS ARE (040) 66605255}, WHO TRIED TO PACIFY ME & PROMISED ME A PHONE CALL & UPDATE WITHIN 24 HOURS, WHICH WAS NEVER TO HAPPEN AND NEVER HAPPENED.

ON THE 03D OF MAY., WHILE RETUNING, I MET TWO SENIOR MEMBERS OF EMIRATES, MR. SURAJ (I BELIEVE HE IS SR. SUPERVISOR - CONTACT NO. 970157445), AND THE OTHER GENTLEMAN MR. FAHAD. BOTH OF THEM DEFINITELY POLITE, HELPED ME A LOT, AND PROMISED TO CONTACT MY SON THE NEXT DAY. HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN, AS NO BODY WANTS TO FEEL THE PAIN.

FINALLY ON 05TH MAY., THEY CALLED UP MY SON AND ASKED HIM TO COME TO ARIPORT ON THE 06TH MAY. HE VISITED TODAY & WAS ASKED TO FILL UP THE INVENTORY FORM AND GIVE EVALUATION/ESTIMATES OF THE PROPERTY IN THE MISSING BAG.

NOW THE QUESTION ARISES:

1. WHAT SHOULD A PAX DO, WITH ALL HIS CLOTHING BEING MISSED BY EMIRATES, WHO WANTED TO INCREASE REVENUE BY OFFLOADING CHECKED IN BAGGAGE OF PASSENGERS, NOT KEEPING TRACK OF THE OFF LOADED BAGGAGES AND FORGETTING TO SEND IT BACK;

2. THE BAGGAGE HANDLING AGENCY FORGETS TO GIVE LOCAL REFERRENCE TO THE "MISSING BAGGAGE CLAIM" - HOWEVER, THEY GAVE THAT TO ME ON 01ST MAY (AFTER NINE DAYS), THAT NUMBER IS 27223;

3. IS EMIRATES NOT DUTY BOUND TO PROVIDE SOME "INTERIM COMPENSATION" OF AT LEAST TWO PAIRS OF CLOTHES TO MAKE THE LIFE OF THE PASSENGER LITTLE COMFORTABLE & NOT LEAVE HIM TO THE MERCY OF DOGS &/or HIMSELF TO FEND FOR HIMSELF;

4. WHY WAS THE INVENTORY FORM NOT FILLED ON THE DAY WHEN THE BAGGAGE WAS MISSED BY EMIRATES - IS IT TO PLAY WITH TIME, LET THE PASSENGER FORGET THE CONTENTS OF THAT BAG & LATER ON GIVEN THEM A CORROT STICK AS COMPENSATION;

5. IS IT FAIR ON THE PAT OF EMIRATES TO CALL HIM TO FILL UP THE INVENTORY FORM & SEND HIM BACK, WITHOUT BOTHERING TO GIVE HIM "CONVEYANCE" WHICH DUE TO THE DISTANCE FROM CITY IS I.RS. 800.00 TO 1, 000.00;

6. AFTER FILLING THE INVENTORY FORM, HE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT, WE WILL CONTACT YOU AFTER 15 DAYS;

7. NOW THE TIME LIMIT FOR SETTLING THE MISSING BAGGAGE ISSUES TO THE MAXIMUM IS 21 DAYS OR DOES EMIRATES THINKS IT IS ONE MONTH / ONE YEAR / OR MAY BE INDEFINITE - FOR IT IS THE PASSENGER WHO IS SUFFERING & NOT THE AIRLINES, THEY HAVE GOT THEIR REVENUE, AS THE PASSENGER HAS ALREADY TRAVELLED PAYING EXCESS BAGGAGE FOR THAT MATTER, EMIATES MADE SOME MORE MONEY BY OFF LOADING THE BAGGAGE OF THE PASSENGER & HAS NOTHING TO LOOSE NOW.

I WOULD REQUEST SENIOR MANAGEMENT OF "EMIRATES AIRLINES" PLEASE LOOK INTO THE MATTER TO PUT AN END TO IT, BECAUSE MORE THAN ANYTHING, THE BLAME IS COMING ON THE AIRLINE, WHICH HAS WORLD'S TOP CLASS BAGGAGE TRACKING SYSTEM, IS THE BEST AIRLINE OF THE WORLD, IS AN EXAMPLE THAT OTHER AIRLINES WANT TO EMULATE, BUT INCIDENTS OF THIS TYPE WILL DEFINITELY MAKE A DENT ON THE POPULARITY OF THE AIRLINE.
