Multiple Charging of online payments without booking the tickets

This has reference to Flight bookings made by me through makemytrip.com on 7th Jan for travel from Delhi-Mumbai on 8th Jan.

For factual clarity of my grievance, I am narrating the facts in detail.

First time when booking was done by me for 3 passengers, I was asked to pay Rs.22, 548/-, which was paid through ICICI Bank Account No.017701547882. I also received a sms from the Bank for debit of the aforesaid bank account. However strangely, my ticket did not generate but a message displayed “what happened – details entered by are invalid. Please try again. I then called the customer care of makemytrip, who then attended to me and clarified that the booking has failed because requested seats were not available and makemytrip will return the payment within 72 hours. Reference ID for the call made to customer care is 120107-014670, who then shown his inability to immediately resolve the issue and transferred our call to “Sales Department”, where Ms. Praveen Kumari, email address [email protected] attended us and suggested us that pending our earlier refund, we should make fresh payment to the link, which she will send after blocking tickets for us. This time she informed us that same booking now will be for Rs. 23, 676/-. She then blocked tickets to us and promised us that the payment link being sent by her is 100% secure, wherefrom payment will never fail. We then had no option but to make payment, as we had to catch the flight to take our serious Cancer patient to Tata Memorial, Mumbai. Strangely this time also payment was deducted but Ms. Preaveen Kumari informed that she has not received the payment from bank. We then spoke to bank, who confirmed that payment has gone from Bank and is not pending at their end.By this time, we had blocked Rs.46, 224/-. Ms. Praveen Kumari then asked us that she cannot help and advised us to go to makemytrip office at TDI Mall, Rajori Garden, Delhi and make fresh payment to secure tickets blocked by her, otherwise these tickets will also not be available. Since we had no option but to travel to Mumbai at any cost, we visited the TDI Mall, Rajori Garden, Delhi and made cash payments, where the concerned executive confirmed that our payment of Rs.22, 548/-is being reflected as received by them, which will be refunded shortly. However, he was not able to recognize other payment of Rs.23, 676/-. However, he assured that no other booking has been made by us and therefore, they will refund all our payments within 72 hours. Our discussion with Ms. Praveen kumari of Chandigarh office was for more than 45 minutes to discuss the entire issue.

Today it is 12th of Jan i.e. after lapse of 5 days there is no response from makemytrip, however on sms was received on mobile today stating “Dear Customer, For your travel starting 8 Jan, 12 for Delhi-Mumbai, Makemytrip booking ID is IN1201B03539.Amount charged INR 23, 676. Thank you.

I have failed to understand, what you wanted to say today by this message, keeping silence on my refund of Rs.46, 224/-.

By this mail, I am requesting you to refund my excess payments charged by you amounting to Rs.46, 224/- solely on account of your fault, the excess fare charged on fresh booking, my travel expenses, interest and a reasonable cost to compensate me towards this sufferance, which I have explained to you in detail. Keep in my I had to take my father, who is suffering from cancer and is in critical stage and such a scenario suffered me mentally.

Inspite of my several days followups your company has not been able to refund my enitre excess amount and are unnecessarily troubling me. Please refund my money with suitable compensations for the hassels and the expenses, I am incurring every day to pursue this issue.
